This last Saturday night 93X and NOS energy drink held a free, yes free drifting event with a $500 cash prize. Even better was they opened the gates to practice at noon…awesome.

First impression of it all was pretty awesome. Lots of cars, Lots of friends and lots of new faces. Pit and got my stuff ready to go and hit up the track!

First time driving at raceway. Nice set-up figure 8 style. I did some small stuff to help with my bending tie rod issue.  Needless to say I was a little hesitant at first, kind of feeling out the track and the car. After one little hot lap I went at it. defiantly felt better and better.

I let Brian take a stab at it, I saw the fire in his eyes to do it. For ones first time out he did really well. Can’t wait to have him finish his car so we can go do some stupid tandem stuff.

As soon as 7 rolled around the drivers meeting started. We were going to qualify in order by drivers number…

Amazingly I picked 99…. SO, that ment dead last. We all rolled onto the track and placed ourselves in front of the audience for Rudy at 93x to introduce us.

I believe there were 36 drivers total that entered. 26 or so actually ended up competing for the cash prize!  Largest amount of drivers in one place that I have ever been to personally, so it was pretty awesome to see everyone.

acquired a new nickname Ben “The Bling” Blizel as announced by Rudy. Haha.

So on to qualifing and I knew I probably was not going to place too high. Went out and gave it my all. I was super happy with driving and I learned a couple pointers from people I want to try the next time out.

In the Finale- It came down to three drivers

MAN OF STUNT- AKA Trapper Dave- 1jz s14

K-FED- Kevin Hilgers- sr20 S14

and BIG DADDY JIGGY- Sam Henry- rb25 s13.5

With a fighting battle to the top it came down to Sam and Kevin. After an unfortunate little hiccup during Sam’s run it came down to Kevin to make one solid run. Like a machine, K-fed took his car and showed it who is the man with the moose nuts to finish up the night with a big WIN!! I do say excitement was in the air ALL night for ALL drivers. This was a blast to be apart of. Big thanks for all those running, involved, NOS, 93x I do hope we have more in the future.

Here are a few more pictures of the evening.

Elvis of SBS in the swagger z31

Eric Moen of EP/DC in the SOHC s13.4

My first DD in the pocket, along with my first MWC event.  All in all it was probably the most awesome time ive had yet!  Other then the Brainerd MAP event for an hour or so and some streeting for the “Keep Drifting Fun” DVD,  I have had ZERO track time ever.

While I unpacked, got teched, and purchased my placards the anticipation grew. Pull up to the line to get on the track I could feel the awesomeness about the ensue. As it was finally my turn to go, all I can could think about was “Go fast!”.  One quick little sprint into the bank I thought to myself lets run a lap then go for it. Well, I was a little impatient so I figured why not try the last little bit of the bank….

sexy

Lets try again…only faster!!

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

I was loving every second of the feeling. I just couldn’t believe how awesome it was to finally drive this place. So I got right back in line again to try the bank faster and earlier. Coming up on my last seconds out there I tried to do as early as possible. I came in a little shallow and smacked the tie rod and bent the piss out of it………..

damn…

Comp. qualifying was about to start and I had no tie rod to speak of. With a quick save from Jordan I was finishing it up as the last few people were qualifying.

Took my first run and spun on the bank but still finished up. Now on to my last. I figured keep going fast and see where it goes. As I sped quickly into the bank I started to get TOO sideways I hit the brakes…sliding…sliding..sliding …wall..wall..wall.

Crunch……

Not as planned, but I pulled away from the wall and headed to the pits. Dragging the rear of my car?? It sounded that way, along with Amanda looking like half the car was gone..

I pulled into the pits and got out. My exhaust smushed and my bumper gone. “That’s it????” I said and laughed. Ripped off the exhaust and got back in line. This sport is way to fun. I finished up the day full of dirt, sweat and the biggest smile. Can’t wait to do it again. Possible to still make a Shawano event before the season is over.

Large large thanks goes out to everyone there supporting this. Big thanks to Rick for his help and time trailering the vehicle, helping in the pits with my tie rod, Jordan for the tie rod save, Everyone giving me great pointers and tips to do better each time. Matt and Joel for the pictures and video (will be up shortly) and a big good luck to Kevin for his exciting family adventures. I’m glad I got to drift with ya!

NOW FOR WHAT YOU”VE ALL WAITED FOR

Yes. Finally. I have the oppertunity to drive Elko Raceway. I’ve been waiting for this moment for at a minimum 2 years. Needless to say, Im super pumped to go and if your reading this…YOU NEED TO BE THERE.

July 3rd-2010- EVE OF DESTRUCTION

Took Amanda and my brother out to the eve of destruction at Elko speedway. I wanted to go last year so I made a point to visit this year. The crowd was a very decent size. The seating area filled up fast to enjoy Late models, monster trucks and drifting.  Trapper Dave from Iowa was a guest and totally killed it, smoke machine! Here are a few pictures of the event.

When you give Daelen one Nilla wafer cookie he will ask for another. If you don’t have more this happens

Dirty love in your face-

It was a nice evening for lots of beer.-  Finished the nights at Scott’s house with the Tmf’ers and alcohol, had a good time. Thanks for the invite!

I can’t even tell you  how awesome my summer is already. To make it even more legit, I was able to spend my night talking fart jokes, comical high school days and chilling with Josh Herron. You may ask….Who is Josh Herron. Well,

A. A rad film maker
B. One of the two guys filming the DVD “Keep Drifting Fun”

(Josh -left, Will-Right)

Along side of Will Roegge in their adventure to cover Grassroots drifting all over the country in there 70′s VW bus.

So naturally when Chris told us he was in town and wanted to film footage for his video I can honestly say I could have hit a small animal I was so excited.

I rushed home, Ziptied my shit together, Prayed to any god that would listen to keep my car in one piece, and jet to the cities.

Met up with Mandrew, Daelen, Cody and Josh and commenced awesome times. This was my first time “street drifting” so needless to say I was a little green behind the ears but no fear, I still had a blast. Safely made it back home without breaking down or having my car impounded.

3 hours later I’m up and out the door sitting here at work.

So legit.

I love drifting.

Thanks again Josh!

I seriously could write a million awesome things about Modern Performance  proving grounds this year but ill let the pictures do the talking. I had a blast driving. This was my very first legitimate time doing this and im hooked…Can’t wait for more! The biggest Thanks to Andrew for helping me get it all running. Brian for helping into the night wrapping it all up. My gf and her family for all the support along with my family! THANKS FOR SHOWING UP!!!

DD31- CANCELED

Kinda bummed about it. I didn’t think I would make it driving wise, but at least I feel like I tried to make valiant efforts towards it. Worst case was I had to watch sweet drifting and go help fellow friends. But now I can’t even do that …gay

Next event from here would be All Star Bash. Totally awesome event that is happening for the first time here in the Midwest but I can’t drive that so I may go to MODERN AUTOMOTIVE PERFORMANCE proving grounds to get a little time with my car.  Still need to wrap up wiring, and find exhaust. From there im set.  Not going to get to excited yet but anticipation is growing…

PS. Shout out to Daelen for getting touch up paint for the whip. Looks way better than having green scratches hahah.

Two words to describe Drift Day 30…
